About

Maintenance Technician operates within industrial or manufacturing facilities to diagnose, repair, and overhaul mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment. Using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, CMMS platforms (SAP PM, GMAO), and PLC diagnostic software, this professional collaborates with production teams, safety officers, and suppliers. Responsibilities span preventive maintenance scheduling, corrective interventions, and continuous improvement of equipment reliability. Work is performed under technical constraints including safety regulations, downtime targets, and spare parts inventory management.

Skills

Technical skills

  • Perform mechanical systems repair on motors, gearboxes, pumps, and conveyors
  • Conduct electrical troubleshooting on AC/DC circuits and variable speed drives
  • Utilize PLC diagnostics with Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley
  • Operate CMMS systems like SAP PM, Infor EAM, or equivalent
  • Maintain pneumatics and hydraulics for optimal performance
  • Apply vibration analysis and predictive maintenance techniques
  • Read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and P&ID schematics
  • Ensure lockout/tagout (LOTO) and industrial safety compliance

Interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrate systematic problem-solving under time pressure
  • Provide clear written and verbal reporting to non-technical stakeholders

  • Diagnose equipment failures using multimeters, vibration analyzers, and PLC diagnostic tools.
  • Execute corrective repairs on conveyors, motors, pumps, and hydraulic systems to restore production within defined SLA.
  • Record all interventions in CMMS (SAP PM or equivalent) with failure codes and time logs.
  • Monitor spare parts stock levels and submit replenishment requests to reduce downtime risk.
  • Calibrate sensors, actuators, and control systems to maintain ±2% measurement accuracy.
  • Coordinate scheduled shutdowns with production planners to minimize output loss.
  • Analyze recurring failure patterns and propose root-cause corrective actions to reduce MTTR by 15%.
  • Apply 5S and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures on every intervention to comply with safety standards.
  • Train operators on first-level maintenance tasks and proper equipment handling.
  • Update technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and maintenance procedures after each modification.
  • Track OEE indicators and report weekly equipment availability metrics to the maintenance supervisor.
